Are you concerned about the Environment? All American Roofing and Waterproofing is. That is why we install and promote products from manufacturers that make the effort to being environmentally friendly.
RECYCLING
All American Roofing and Waterproofing has partnered with a local Waste Management company in recycling asphalt shingles that have been torn off of homes that we are working on. So, instead of filling local landfills with this old material, we have developed a way to separate recyclable asphalt from the general debris from jobsites. This material is then recycled and used in other asphalt applications such as road and driveway paving! All of this leads to less material in landfills.
SHINGLES
We install shingles manufactured by GAF-ELK. A segment of their product offerings includes their COOL COLOR SERIES. These energy efficient architectural shingles combine the visual impact of Timberline Prestique 40 shingles into the first energy-efficient “cool” asphalt shingles. They are offered in a palette of rich organic colors.
These remarkable shingles slow heat build-up for a more energy-efficient home. The Cool Color Series is manufactured using highly reflective granules that bounce back the sun’s rays and more effectively release absorbed heat. They are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) and meet initial EnergyStar performance levels.
VINYL SIDING
We install Vinyl Siding Manufactured by Alcoa and Certainteed. Vinyl Siding produced by these industry leaders utilizes few natural resources and requires no additional finish resources upon installation. Upkeep is simple and involves common household products.
WINDOWS
All American installs Vinyl replacement windows from leading manufacturers such as MI, with their Cutting Edge, and Cutting Edge Plus Window. We also use Viwinco replacement windows and Patio doors.
MI windows are durable and long lasting, combining architectural appeal with performance and low maintenance and lifestyle cost. They are a member of the United States Green Building Council.
MI and Viwinco both make efforts in the manufacturing of their products in being environmentally conscious. They recycle all of the raw scrap glass, aluminum, vinyl, and cardboard used throughout their production processes
The height of owning a sustainable home would be to install a green roof. Green roofs are part of sustainable construction in most major cities and in many parts of Europe. These eco friendly buildings contain an actual living roof made up of plants and grass. A true green roof system reduces heating inside the home or building by up to 30-40 percent, making it a natural air conditioner. In the winter months, soil and layers of other material significantly increase the insulation levels in the roof, reducing heat loss and keeping the home warmer. Additionally, installing a green roof adds to the health and beauty of the natural environment and replaces soil that is displaced during construction.
Where green roofs may be great, they are not always practical. Many homes do not have the structural means to support a living roof, or their local zoning laws may not permit such a project. Homeowners in these circumstances don't have to give up their efforts for a sustainable home. Products like reflective roof coating can help by reflecting more of the sun's energy back into the atmosphere, keeping the home cooler and reducing air conditioning bills.
Since much of the electricity in the U.S. is generated by burning fossil fuels that create air pollution, reducing the amount of energy needed to cool buildings helps to reduce the production of air pollutants. Like any other large purchase, make sure that the product you are buying has the ENERGY STAR seal of approval.
Launched on Earth Day in June 2003, Alcoa's Ten Million Trees program counts and recognizes the trees personally planted by Alcoa employees worldwide. These trees are planted in addition to those used in revegetation programs that Alcoa routinely undertakes as part of its mine rehabilitation programs. Ten Million Trees is open to all employees, contractors, suppliers, and their families so that 10 million new trees, which can absorb more than 250,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year during their lifetime, can be in place by 2020.
Each participating Alcoa location purchases trees for the Ten Million Trees program from a supplier of its choice, and the location’s employees select the types of trees used to match local conditions and purposes.
Under this program, employees are encouraged to plant their trees on the Alcoa property where they work to contribute to the achievement of sustainability and to enhance the environment around the company's facilities. Integrated into facility land management plans, the trees provide shade, offer habitat for wildlife, reduce stormwater runoff, enhance the aesthetics of the facilities, and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Trees can also be planted at home, in parks (with appropriate permission), or at other places that are of special significance for individuals or communities. Many Alcoa locations routinely use a tree-planting ceremony as a way to welcome and recognize prominent visitors to the facilities, providing a permanent memorial to honor those visitors.
A tree census is conducted each December, and locations report on the number of trees planted during the year as part of the program.
Ten Million Trees grew from the extraordinarily successful One Million Trees program, which began in 1998 with the goal of fostering the planting of a million trees by Alcoa employees within ten years. At that time, this amounted to one tree per employee per year. Employees and contractors alike, along with their families at more than 140 Alcoa locations in 20 countries, raced to that goal in half the time expected.

And so, on to 10 million trees before 2020....
